The operation of the Community Chest starts with your contributions. By contributing to the Maynard Community Chest, you join the ranks of devoted Maynard citizens interested in helping their community thrive. There are many ways to contribute, select an option that’s most convenient for you.

Contribute Online

Maynard Community Chest has partnered with Network for Good to provide its service for donating with a credit card or through Pay Pal. You can give one-time or set up monthly recurring donations and you have the option of donating in honor or in memory of someone. Network for Good securely handles your personal and credit card information using the same standard security as online shopping.

There is a 4.75% processing fee for credit card or Pay Pal donations, however, which you can either choose to pay yourself or it will be deducted from your total donation. You will receive an automated tax receipt from Network for Good and the Maynard Community Chest will also acknowledge each credit card/Pay Pal donation.

Make a meaningful gift in honor or in memory of someone special and support your local community at the same time. The Maynard Community Chest will send letters for donations made in honor or in memory of family, friends, neighbors or colleagues. We will send an acknowledgment letter to the person or people you are honoring (amount held confidential) and will send you a receipt for your tax records.

Funding Hope, Fueling Change – Together, We Make an Impact!

The Maynard Community Chest allocates funds to local non-profit human service organizations on a once-a-year basis and does not fund one-time requests. If you have a particular funding need and don’t know where to go, e-mail us and we will be glad to help you get the information you need or at least put you in touch with someone who can help you directly

Non-profit organizations eligible for funding from the Maynard Community Chest must:

  • Align with our mission, “The all-volunteer Maynard Community Chest, Inc., strengthens our community by supporting local nonprofit organizations that provide essential human services to people who live or work in Maynard, Massachusetts”.
  • Be a 501 c 3 non-profit organization.
  • Have a stated policy of non-discrimination in regard to all persons, irrespective of their race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual preference, age, disability or veterans’ status, and compliance with all requirements of law and regulations with respect to the provision of services.

Key Upcoming Dates for Prospective Grantees

To become a supported organization of the Maynard Community Chest, please submit a formal request, including proof of eligibility requirements, by November 30th before the funding cycle begins in January.

Funding Applications are sent out in February and must be completed by April 17th. If applicable, one representative of each supported organization may be required to attend an Annual Meeting in March of the year after the organization has received funding.

The Allocation Committee reviews Funding Applications in April and May and checks are mailed out in June. Please note that in our evaluation, we prioritize the following criteria:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of how your organization impacts the Maynard community
  • Clearly articulated plans for how our funds will be used
  • Impact of Maynard Community Chest funds on your organization
  • Effort to evaluate your organization’s programs and services
  • Collaboration with the Maynard Community Chest throughout the year

The Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley

The Boys & Girls Club of Assabet Valley is always looking for friendly, outgoing people willing to spend time with the youth of the community. If you wish to make a difference in a child’s life please call (978-461-2871). There are many ways you can volunteer your time and be a positive role model to a child. From helping a child prepare for a test, playing a game of basketball in the gym, to working on an arts & craft project, the choice of activities is endless. Domestic Violence Services Network

As a Domestic Violence Victim Assistance Program (DVVAP) Advocate, you would provide follow-up telephone support to victims of domestic violence referred by our police partners. As a Court Support Program (CSP) Advocate, you would provide in-person guidance to victims at the Concord District Court. Additionally, there are various opportunities to assist with projects and events to promote awareness and raise funds for DVSN. Contact DVSN at training@dvsn.org

Maynard Girl Scouts

Maynard Food Pantry

The Maynard Food Pantry needs volunteers to stock shelves on Friday mornings, operate the Food Pantry on Mondays for their clients, pick up food donations from various locations throughout town, pick up grocery orders on a regular basis and assist with food drives throughout the year. Minuteman Senior Services is looking for volunteers to give one hour a week to make a visible, vital difference in the life of a frail, isolated elder in your community. Open Table Maynard

Open Table Maynard is looking for a variety of volunteers to manage and execute their weekly community dinners and on-site food pantry on Monday evenings in Maynard. Volunteers are needed to provide transportation for some guests, plan and prepare meals, shop for food, pick up food from corporate donors, make table decorations, staff the on-site pantry and serve dinners.
