Maynard Community Chest raises $8,000 at 7th Annual Community Chest Challenge Triathlon

We would like to thank everyone who supported Maynard in the 7th Annual Community Chest Challenge Triathlon, co-sponsored with the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest, held on June 7, 2009 in Concord. We wish to recognize Comcast Cable, Leaktite Corporation, the individual donors, the volunteers, and the 8 relay teams who biked, ran, and paddled canoes to the finish! Maynard started participating in the Challenge 4 years ago when one team raised $800. This year, we set a new Maynard participation record with 8 teams, and we raised $8,000.

The Community Chest Challenge is a team triathlon fundraiser benefiting the human service agencies supported by the Community Chests of Concord-Carlisle and Maynard. Thanks to generous corporate donations by Comcast and Leaktite, 100% of the funds raised by Maynard's teams will go directly to the 18 local agencies we support.

Thank you, too, to Morey's Tavern for hosting our pre-race fundraiser on Sunday afternoon, May 17, with Irish music and a wide variety of raffle prizes donated by Art & Soul, Global Goods, Teresina's, CVS, Dunia Ecostore, 51 Main, Wood By Wood, Kilby Books/Video, Fine Arts Theatre, Shari and Paul Belanger, Laura and Mark Howrey, and Stacey Briggs...this was a truly community-wide effort! The Maynard Community Chest is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that strengthens our community by supporting local charitable agencies that provide a broad range of essential human services to people who live or work in Maynard, Massachusetts. The Community Chest's 19 Member AGENCIES provide many kinds of services to Maynard residents of all ages, abilities and types of need. Local community volunteers keep fundraising and operating costs low. The Community Chest has no paid staff. The Community Chest is independently audited each year and requires a thorough financial disclosure from all agencies. As long as you live or work in Maynard, MA, you are eligible to receive the services provided by our Member Agencies.
